Water Tank Structure Analysis and Concrete Compression Test

A water tank in Ampang Jaya was scheduled for upgrading works that required coring through its concrete wall.

Before proceeding, the client needed to confirm the wall thickness and map the internal reinforcement at selected locations to avoid compromising structural integrity.

We conducted a structural assessment using Xradar’s enhanced concrete scanning technology. 4 scan points were completed to provide precise data on wall thickness and reinforcement layout. As requested by the client, we documented rebar spacing, cover, diameter, and arrangement to support accurate decision-making and reduce risk during the coring process.

To further evaluate the concrete condition, we carried out compressive strength testing. Two core samples were extracted from the tank wall by our partner, Sonicon Construction, and sent to a certified lab to determine concrete grade and strength.

The entire process from scanning to coring was completed in approximately 5 hours through a coordinated effort between our engineers and operators. With non-destructive data and verified strength values, the client was able to move forward with confidence, knowing the structure would remain uncompromised during the upgrade.
