As part of a new grocery outlet set up within a soon-to-open shopping mall in Petaling Jaya, the client needed to core through the slab at almost 40separate points for utility installations including water discharge and plumbing.
The slab was structurally different from the retail floors above, as it was built in alignment with the parking lot below, which created potential misalignment with beams and embedded elements. To ensure safety and accuracy, the project team engaged us to scan all points before coring.

After seeing our previous concrete scanning results at another outlet within the same mall, the client re-engaged our team for this second scope. We used Xradar™ technology to scan each of the proposed coring locations, identifying and mapping rebar, conduits, and potential post-tension cables embedded within the slab.
This allowed the project team to relocate or adjust their coring locations where necessary, avoiding structural damage and unnecessary rework. All scans were completed efficiently with no disruption to ongoing construction activities nearby. The coring jobs were then proceeded by our trusted partner, Sonicon Construction, resulting in an all in one process for the client.
